| Tom spent a happy childhood in Sacramento doing all those boy things. Teasing his sister Melinda (Mimi). Catching frogs, chasing around on his mini motorcycles. He learned and perfected the fine art of practical jokes, merry pranks and the telling of tall tales. An irrepressible smile, irresistible and infectious perfectly masked him, making it your task to determine if this was a true story or masterful tale. Tom was full of ... life. |

As an adult, Tom was a skillful in the building trades, a heavy equipment operator, master cabinet maker and certified welder. He began building his racing skills at the age of 13 racing go-karts, pavement 4+ years and speedway dirt for three years, much of it at Prairie City Speedway. In 1992 he moved to modified midgets, then up to Midget-Lites with B.C.R.A. finishing 14th in championship points in 1996. |
Some things are being done in Tom's honor and to the benefit of his son, James. There is an event at Prairie City Speedway, the first was held on November 15, 1997, the Tom Bouné Memorial Race is planned to be an annual event. |

| It was natural for Tom to be
interested in racing, he was exposed to it from birth growing up in a racing family.
A birthright passed down from his grandfather Dennie through his son Dick and on to
Tom. He competed, during the winter, at the Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa
Oklahoma and during his last two seasons in the USAC Midget races at Cal Expo. He was a committed competitor, fiercely aggressive with the intelligence it took to avoid most accidents. He liked to bring the race car home without damage, he was a driver's driver. The accident that claimed his life was a freak thing, something even a heady driver like Tom could not avoid. Tom died too young, but he did receive the great enjoyment of being deeply involved in the sport he loved the most. |
