success should be an inspiration to artists young and old alike.

covered by the water of the Great Salt Lake, the waters have receded
recently to unveil the work effected by time and the elements. But

Gregory Steel ~ Gregory’s
evolution as an artist and person has led him to not make distinctions
between art and life. His art, as he explains, is only an extension of
who he and is not a separate activity, but one fully integrated into who
he is as a person. The art of ideas is a fundamental to his working
process and is at the heart of all the work to date. Moving through
academic studies and struggling with the modernist dilemma Gregory soon
came to depend on the feeling that the art happens within the mind of
the participant and not external or within the individual objects
created; the experience is foremost in his work.

The Spiral,
"Early man gazed into the heavens and saw stars in the form of spiral nebulae
and placed representations on animal skins and on cave walls, in her hand the
swirl of the seed pod provoked creation of textile and jewelry, the spiral form
inspired occult and spiritual symbols, modern man finds his genetic information
organized in a double helix - intimations of greater unseen powers, movement,
expansion and order - above all forms the spiral speaks to me!
